Throughout the pandemic Richard House has continued to stay open to support the families who rely on the services we provide, as it has done for over 20 years. All of this could be lost due to the devastating effects that COVID-19 is having.
Back in April, when the impact of the pandemic was still emerging, we had already begun seeing a strain on our stretched resources and we were foreseeing a significant loss of income. Many supported our appeal and gave generously and for that I want to say thank you, without this support we would not have made it to Christmas.
Richard House has stayed open during the entire COVID-19 pandemic. We have been there to offer families a chance to rest, and a chance to have some form of normality. We have offered them the opportunity to expand this very small world that COVID-19 has enforced, opening our garden during the warmer months and offering a place to relax.
But we need to ask for your support again. Almost every fundraising event and activity was cancelled this and we anticipate that many more will be cancelled in 2021. Richard House is reliant on raising £3.5 million every year to fund our services and this will be a difficult target to meet if we cannot raise £300,000 by the end of 2020.
We are asking for your support this Christmas, so that Richard House can continue to be here providing care and support to the families with a child diagnosed with a life-limiting illness or condition, well into the New Year.
