At Richard House we offer holistic support, services and activities to the whole family, including:
- Direct care – specialist short breaks and end-of-life care
- Bereavement support
- Step-down care from hospital to home
- Transition care from childhood to adulthood
- Art, music and play therapies
- Family support including sibling and parent groups, events and trips

We have a number of trusts who generously support Richard House.
Examples of Richard House funders
BBC Children in Need
Richard House have received a grant from Children in Need to fund the cost of a Palliative Care Nurse for a three-year period. This allows us to deliver direct care to children who visit the hospice, whether for a day, overnight or multiple night’s stay.
Wallace & Gromit’s Children’s Charity
Wallace & Gromit have been long term supporters of the work that Richard House carries out, helping us to deliver our therapeutic play activities to children at the hospice.
In 2014 the Metropolitan Masonic Charity supported the refurbishment of the Richard House residential area, a key programme to which aimed to improve our facilities. They are also providing funding for the delivery of vital respite and palliative care for children and families.
The DM Thomas Foundation for Young People has supported Richard House over many years and most recently with a grant to purchase specialist medical equipment in our residential unit. This grant will enable our nurses to provide incredible palliative care to children with life-limiting conditions.
The Garfield Weston Foundation
We are extremely grateful to the Garfield Weston Foundation for their ongoing support for Richard House and most recently for their donation towards our respite and palliative care service. The service enables our families to receive a much-needed break from the 24-hour cycle of care whilst our passionate team of palliative care nurses work round-the-clock to deliver high quality one-to-one care to each child.
