Theatre Royal Stratford East’s panto to be enjoyed by children at Richard House

Today we were visited by the performers of the Theatre Royal Stratford East who came to meet some of the children and young people in Richard House care, prior to their performance of Sinbad the Sailor, which will be live streamed at the hospice on 29 December.

By using the latest digital technology the theatre will be giving our children and their families the chance to enjoy the exciting show by live-streaming their performance in our residential area. The panto will be filmed with multiple cameras and edited to work well as a broadcast and the experience will be augmented in a variety of ways to make it something truly memorable. This will include cast visits, a pre-broadcast message from the Dame and programmes full of activities for each child.

With heaps of surprises along the way, our families will be invited to join Sinbad and his friends on a voyage to mysterious places as they strive to successfully complete their perilous quest.

Sinbad the Sailor has been written by Paul Sirett with music and lyrics by Wayne Nunes and Perry Melius. The show will be directed by Kerry Michael and runs at Theatre Royal Stratford East from 28th November to 21st January

Kerry MichaelArtistic Director, said “Theatre Royal Stratford East is ‘is a people’s theatre’. We believe being accessible to the widest possible audiences is really important. We are also innovators and embrace the use of digital technology to engage people with theatre and create exciting new work. The screenings for children in hospitals and hospices are part of these ambitions. Most of all we hope the children have a wonderful time!”
