The sun has got its hat on…

Summer’s finally here!
Our hospice garden is the perfect way for our children and families to enjoy the sun while having fun, playing or simply relaxing. But it was looking a little tired. So, to help get our garden summer ready for our children, nine apprentices from Miller Insurance volunteered to take part in a gardening day at Richard House.
Going above and beyond
But this was just the beginning of their generosity as the team also decided to fundraise for us. The team had a target of £165, and in one week they managed to raise a staggering £1,218.46 through a bake sale (yes, that is a lot of cakes!). The team used £200 of this to buy new supplies and paint for the garden to make it look as colourful, inviting and enjoyable as possible for our children. The rest was kindly donated to Richard House to support our children and families.
It’s paint day
Volunteering day finally arrived and, though we were let down by the bad weather (typical!), the team persevered to do the painting work they had funded and managed to get a lot done. We’re absolutely thrilled with the fresh new look of our garden!
Thank you so much
We would like to say a huge thank you to the team for their enthusiasm and initiative to fundraise, going above and beyond to support our hospice. Our Corporate Partnerships Manager, Kathryn, says,
“When the Miller Insurance team told me they had smashed their target of £165 I had no idea it would be by this much! I am so impressed with what the apprentices have managed to achieve in just a week and it was lovely to meet them at the hospice. On behalf of all of us at Richard House thank you so much to the team and I hope we can see you again at the hospice soon!”
