Thank you for saying YES to retail Gift Aid, your support makes all the difference!

Meet Carol, she joined Richard House Children’s Hospice as transition support worker. As some of the children we care for move into adulthood, they will still need specialist support throughout their lives. The transition team at Richard House helps them move from children’s to adult palliative care.

In her role as transition support worker, Carol will help ensure the transition is smooth. Working directly with young people helping them to take control over their own lives and make informed choices. Part of the role is to develop and deliver activities that are high quality, fun and vibrant. Carol said: “I’m really excited to join the Transition team. I’m busy working on activity sessions which will help the whole transition team build trusting relationships with the young people we support. By promoting independence in these sessions we will help build their confidence to make choices about their own care now and in the future.”

In the last tax year (2015-16) Richard House shops retail Gift Aid scheme generated enough Gift Aid income to fund Carol’s role for an entire year.

Richard House has six charity shops across East London and Essex, with all money raised going directly to the hospice. These vital funds ensure Richard House is able to provide care year-on-year for children and young people with life-limiting conditions and support for their families.
