Summer Fair Success

Published: August 1, 2019

Last month we opened our gates for our annual Summer Fair. We had a phenomenal turnout with more than 500 people (including staff, volunteers, families and members of our community) attending the day.

It was an action packed day of activities – with visits from a couple of Stormtroopers, Superheroes, the Pearly King and Queen, a number of local Councillors, Stephen Timms (MP for East Ham), Mayor of Barking & Dagenham and many others!

Guests joined us for some great entertainment from the incredible Reggae Reggae Choir and Gamelan Group to Trinity Chapel, Star Primary School & the Lit Dance Troupe. Attendees browsed an array of stalls including jewellery, henna, cakes, hand-crafted cards, cross-stitch and a boozy tombola; and enjoyed some delicious food!

“The Summer Fair is always a real hit with the children and families and this year was no exception. It was an occasion for the whole community to enjoy and was brilliant for bringing families together to have a great time and in the process raised valuable funds for the hospice. This year the fair had an array of entertainment, hosting a number of our community partners. Chris Williams, Head of Community & Events

A HUGE thank you to the staff and volunteers who came along to help out on the day – the enthusiasm and energy did not falter! Particular thanks to our incredible committee for their determination, passion, organisation and patience over the last 6 months! We smashed it!

Special thanks to Credit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank and LNS Print for covering our event costs! Their support is hugely appreciated as 100% raised from the day can go towards our vital services! We are proud to announce that the day raised in excess of £5,000!

Richard House Children’s Hospice cares for over 300 children from across east London and need to raise over £3.5 million to keep and expand the services we provide to life-limited children and their families. The Summer Fair helps towards just that and will forever be a highlight of the Richard House calendar bringing together everyone and anyone who loves Richard House!

We’re delighted to say that plans for our 20th Birthday Summer Fair will start in earnest next month!

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event such a success!
