Splash your way through 5ks of bubbles for Hospice care!
Join the fun on 21 May as hundreds of people will walk, run or toddle five kilometers through Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to raise vital funds for hospice care in East London and Essex.
East London’s Richard House Children’s Hospice has teamed up with three other hospices to host the first ever East London Bubble Rush. The run is the perfect way for all to enjoy a fun-filled soak with friends, families, groups and colleagues, with four colour bubble stations along the route.
There will be entertainment, merchandise stalls and refreshments on sale with all money raised from the event will be divided equally between Saint Francis Hospice, Richard House Children’s Hospice, St Joseph’s Hospice and Haven House Children’s Hospice.
So far hundreds people have signed up for the run, including Hackney locals John Roden and his five-year-old granddaughter Hope. Hope suffers from a condition called neutropenia in which there are not enough white blood cells in her blood stream, affecting her body’s ability to fight infections. She was born with further complications that caused brain damage and delayed her development. They’ve been visiting Richard House since 2014. John says:
“I had never been to a children’s hospice before so apart from those few stereotypes, I really didn’t know what to expect. All this changed when I came to Richard House and saw what a fantastic place it was. The respite care gives me the chance to have a little break and regain the strength needed to give my most to Hope. She loves coming to Richard House as she gets to meet other children and take part in fun activities.”
“We are really excited to be taking part in Bubble Rush so that we can give a little back to Richard House by raising money.
John urges the public to get involved by signing up. “I would say to anyone who was considering taking part to do so – it will be a lot of fun!”
Tom Murtagh, fundraising manager at Richard House says: “It’s great to be working with our colleagues at Haven House, St. Josephs and Saint Francis on the Bubble Rush this year. This event is shaping up to be a fantastic way to raise money for hospice care across east London and Essex and support the thousands of families that use our services.”
Ticket prices start from £15 for adults, £10 for children and family discounts are available. We rely on sponsorship so please ask your friends and family to support you so we can raise more money for the hospices involved.
