Saying ‘thank you’ to our amazing volunteers this Volunteers’ Week

Published: June 4, 2015

This week (1-7 June) we have been celebrating Volunteers’ Week, an annual event which celebrates the contribution made by millions of volunteers across the UK.

We have almost 150 volunteers, performing a wide range of vital roles at the hospice, from garden work and photography to receptionists and supporting family support events.  To celebrate their fantastic contribution, we have had cream teas with all the trimmings at all six of the Richard House charity shops as well as here at the hospice for our volunteers. We have also handed out certificates to volunteers in recognition of the time, effort and expertise that the give to the hospice free of charge.

Karen Cavanagh is one of the amazing Richard House volunteers at the Dagenham Green Lanes shop: “My many years at the shop has been a meaningful, yet enjoyable, experience and my wish is to carry on volunteering for a long time to come as the hospice is very dear and means the world to me.”
