Richard House choice for first charity of the year

JOHNS & CO announced that their first Charity of the Year for 2019 is Richard House Children’s Hospice. Based in East London, Richard House Children’s Hospice provides palliative care to children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions across London.

It’s the first time the London estate agency have supported a charity at a corporate level, so they asked their employees to vote on what type of charity they would like the business to support. More than 50 per cent said they wanted to support a children’s hospice, so they sought to partner with a local charity that fit the bill.

Carla Bradman, JOHNS&CO Head of Marketing said: “We’ve had the opportunity to visit Richard House on a couple of different occasions and have been blown away by the work they do. They rely heavily on donations from the local community and small businesses, and we’re hoping to raise £10,000 for them this year to help them achieve their goals.”

Additionally, all JOHNS&CO employees will be given the opportunity to take two volunteering days a year to spend at Richard House. In order to hit their target of £10,000, we’re planning company-wide fundraising activities, including internal raffles, bake sales and cheese and wine nights.

Chris Williams, Richard House Head of Community and Events said: “”Our local community are instrumental to our work – without them, we would not be able to provide 24 hour specialist care to children with life-limiting conditions and their families across east London.

“We are extremely grateful to JOHNS&CO for helping us care for local children and their families through our services, supporting them to live as full a life as possible. We are thrilled to be able to show them the lasting impact their fundraising will have.”

Richard House relies heavily on the generosity of donors. For every £4 spent, £3 has to come from donors for them to continue helping seriously ill children and their families through challenging times.
