A special friend for our children…

Alfie is a Pets As Therapy dog, who will be coming to Richard House to provide therapeutic animal contact with our children.
Therapy helps ensure that the emotional and social needs of our children are met.
Alfie came for his first visit a few days ago, and was a huge hit with the children and staff. It was great to see how much the children loved having him here. Nikki Kent, Head of our Social, Therapeutic and Resource (STaR) Service said,
Our children and staff can’t wait to have Alfie back for more cuddles, hellos and tummy rubs!
It seems that Alfie loved being here just as much as the children loved having him!
After their visit, Theresa Lunniss, Alfie’s owner, tweeted, ‘What a lovely and tranquil atmosphere’. Theresa told us,
Alfie and I recently discovered Richard House on a bike ride! We didn’t know it existed and feel we have found a hidden gem! We are really looking forward to visiting Richard House on a regular basis and getting to know the amazing young people and their families who visit and stay at the hospice and also the dedicated staff who work there.
Sometimes there is nothing better than a cuddle and a play and Alfie loves nothing more than getting to know new friends and having fun.
We are looking forward to becoming part of the extended Richard House family and adding another dimension to the individualised care and support offered to young people.
