New Richard House charity shop to open in Barking

Richard House will open a new charity shop at Vicarage Field Shopping Centre this Friday

The grand opening of the shop is at 10am and the public is invited to come along and grab a bargain from the range of good quality used clothing, household items, books, toys and games.

Seventeen-year-old Murad Shaikh is a new volunteer at the shop. Murad, from East Ham, was born with a series of life-threatening conditions, and has been using the services at Richard House since 1999.

“I’ve been involved with Richard House for such a long time and I really wanted to give something back,” he said of his motivation to join the team. “I enjoy speaking about the positive work that Richard House does and I also enjoy fundraising so I’m really looking forward to this role.”

Louise Hamilton, Head of Retail at Richard House says: “We are delighted to open our seventh charity shop here in Barking. We urge the public to come along and support our shop, by both grabbing a bargain and donating their used items to the shop, or to one of our other six shops in East London in Essex. Every pound that we make through our shops makes a real difference to the families and access our services.”

This will be the seventh charity shop for Richard House, which is based in Beckton. The hospice provides care and services to children with life-limiting and complex healthcare conditions, and supports their families.

You can find the Richard House shop at Unit 12, Vicarage Field Shopping Centre, Barking, IG118DQ.
