Putting families first at Richard House Children’s Hospice
This week is Children’s Hospice Week, an awareness raising and fundraising week for children with life-limiting conditions and the services, like children’s hospices, that support them.
This year Children’s Hospice Week focuses on families, with the theme ‘Time to put families first’. Children with life-shortening conditions often have complex and unpredictable health conditions, with families providing round the clock care, seven days a week. It can take its toll on the whole family and families struggle to spend quality time together.
To mark the week and emphasize the role families play in our lives, Richard House is running a social media campaign, asking people to show how every family is unique by introducing theirs with an #ourselfie family photo or sharing a #myfamily memory.
In addition Richard House staff and volunteers, using images and archived news articles, have created a Richard House family tree, noting some of the most moments in the hospice’s development, as well as recognizing the enormous role Richard House ‘family’ plays in the successful running of the hospice.
Children’s Hospice Week is organised by Together for Short Lives, the leading UK charity for all children with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions.
