From Brighton to around the world!

The final week of our summer activities for families has been one for fantastic journeys, from the second of our group trips to Brighton to the Around the World themed day held here at the hospice.
The family trips to Brighton proved to be a highly popular as ever during our summer activities, with two different groups of families making their way down to the South Coast. Families got to explore the famous coastal town as well as being treated to a visit to the Sea Life Centre. Many families went on the famous pier and had a go on some of the rides, while others soaked up the seaside atmosphere.
Yesterday the hospice was busy with our Around the World day here in Beckton. Fantastic sounds provided by the charity Music in Hospitals included the Didgeridoo, while Bag Books provided sensory stories and Half Moon Theatre led sensory therapeutic sessions.
Volunteer Pritpal led Dhol drumming and magic sessions during the day, while volunteers from HSBC and Tate & Lyle as well as regular volunteers Eloise and Vit helped ensure the day was highly memorable for families.
Gowhar Shaikh, who attended with her son Murad, said: “The day was lots of fun and we travelled the world in a short time! The Dhol drums were fantastic, and Murad enjoyed this a lot. Tony (the didgeridoo player from Music in Hospitals) was amazing. The children were so focused and enjoyed taking part.”
