Festival atmosphere at first summer family day

Published: July 28, 2015

The start of our summer activities for families went off with a bang as the hospice was full for our festivals and fairgrounds activity day.

The colourful day featured a host of activities for the whole family to join based on the hospice’s July theme of festivals and fairgrounds. Magician volunteer Prithpal proved popular as was face painting by volunteer Jackie and theatrical activities from our friends at Half Moon Theatre. Other activities included a variety of arts and crafts and a sensory story.

Amazing volunteers from HSBC Premier and Barclays were on hand to help make sure the day was a real treat for families, running the hook a duck, bean bag toss, hoopla, and guess the sweets in a jar activities as well as helping throughout the day.

Rachel Flower, play services activities coordinator at Richard House, said: “Today was the perfect way to kick off what promises to be an amazing five weeks of summer activities for families. Thanks to all our volunteers and everyone who came in to make the day so memorable.”
