Christmas came early to Richard House this year as we held two large Christmas parties at the hospice at the weekend.

More than one hundred people, including families, staff and volunteers were at the ‘Victorian Christmas’ themed party on Saturday, which also featured a show from Christmas for Kids, festive songs from Newham Super Choir and specially trained furry friends from Alamanda Animals.

Young adults and their families had their turn on Sunday, with an unusual ‘Steampunk’ theme, based on fashion from steam-powered machinery.

Shahina Haque, family support services manager at Richard House said: “It was wonderful to see so many families come along to celebrate the festive season. Special thanks to the volunteers who helped out at both parties, their support made all the difference.”

Speaking at the event Ruksana Hussain who attended the party on Saturday with Haider said: “It was wonderful. They are an exceptional group of people making memories for amazing children.”
