Bollychicks raise over £600 for the hospice!
On 25th of March, a group of Newham ladies will be bringing Bollywood to East London with their dancing event ‘Bollychicks’, organised in support of Richard House.
Newham local Sharifa Begum, who works as a Troubled Families Employment Advisor at the Newham Council, started running the events as a means of giving the young mothers in her neighbourhood a chance to have some careless fun and enjoy some ladies only Bollywood dancing.
She also wanted to do something to support her local children’s hospice, she says: “As my job requires me to work with children I was very familiar with Richard House and it surprised me to find out that many of the families I work with had never heard of the hospice. I realised that I can help with both raising awareness and funds and decided to use my ‘Bollychicks’ events as a means of doing that. So far we have raised an amazing £625 and are hoping to raise much more in March.”
