BlackRock raises over £844,000 for children’s hospices

In September 2014, asset management company BlackRock launched a Charity of the Year partnership with CHaL, a consortium of five independent children’s hospices in London and its surrounding boroughs, of which Richard House is a member.

Initially set to run for 12 months, the partnership was extended to December 2015, by the end of which time the partnership had raised more than £844,182 for CHaL, exceeding its £500,000 target and beating any previous BlackRock charity partnership, and had engaged more than 300 BlackRock employees in volunteering.

In December for instance, staff at Blackrock gave donations and provided presents as they welcomed volunteers from CHaL’s present wrapping service into their offices in the City.

The partnership also saw staff put on a number of new fundraising events such as the BlackRock Rowathon and the ‘Trial by Trivia’ City-wide quiz, whilst staff were encouraged to support the partnership by using their company-sponsored charity days to volunteer at their local children’s hospice.

Helen Hargrave, Head of Corporate, Trust & Major Donors Fundraising at Richard House, said: “Thank you so much to everyone who has helped to contribute to this fantastic partnership in some way – it’s a brilliant example of team-work and has set a fantastic precedent for CHaL partnerships of the future!”
