Barclays up for a challenge at our shops

Published: March 30, 2015

Barclays Compliance were the latest organisation to take on our hugely popular Shop Challenge on Thursday, taking over the reins at our Hornchurch and Barking charity shops and competing to try and raise the most for Richard House.

Staff from the company spent the day putting their business knowledge into action in the local community with the innovative fundraising challenge. As part of the team building fundraiser, the Barclays volunteers had to sort and price goods, organise the displays, work on the tills and assist customers. Together the two teams raised over £660 through sales and bucket collections, with the Hornchurch team coming out on top as the fundraising champions for the day. In addition to this, Barclays staff from both teams also raised a combined £165 through a bake sale.

Both teams received very positive feedback from the shop managers who noted that that the challenge was well organised and all participants were very friendly.

A spokesman at PCB Compliance said: ‘It is a great cause –  a fun day. We’re glad we took part in support of Richard House! Making a positive contribution to the communities in which we operate is very much in line with Barclays’ values, and part of our Citizenship agenda.’
