Easter Surprise from Tesco for Richard House Children’s Hospice shops

The Richard House Children’s Hospice Head of Retail Louise Hamilton recently took a call from a delivery driver Leah Bryant from the Tesco super store in Lakeside, asking if they could deliver a donation of toys.

The answer was ‘Yes please, that would be lovely, thank you very much’ but Louise had no idea just how many toys were going to be delivered. The donation took up one entire storage room at one of the Richard House shops and the donation was large enough for all six Richard House shops to have an allocation just in time for the Easter holidays.

Louise said ‘Next to Christmas, Easter is our busiest trading period for toys so we were thrilled to receive such a generous donation out of the blue from Tesco. We’re exceedingly grateful to the store manager Steve Allen and Amit Savmotta for authorising the donation and to Leah and her co-driver Sam Boateng for helping to carry so many boxes to our stock room.

So if anyone is planning on buying toys as Easter gifts this year, why not pop into one of the Richard House shops to pick up a bargain gift and support your local children’s hospice at the same time.

Richard House has six charity shops across East London and Essex, with all money raised going directly to the hospice. These vital funds ensure Richard House is able to provide care year-on-year for children with life-limiting conditions and support for their families.

Richard House shops trade Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm but will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday.
