From our families….Richard House DOES have Talent! But did they get the gold buzzer or the dreaded X???

On Friday 27th October we held our first Richard House Got Talent. Several families and children in residential attended our specially set up room for ‘auditions’ for the Richard House Panto. We saw some amazing talent on show from solo singers, piano players, dance duos, z family version of Frozen, to group formations especially from the boys who danced and sang along to One Direction. Staff valiantly joined in to Disney and nursery songs and were guest judges who gave feedback to each act. Truly an ‘unbelievable’ time was had by all. One family said they thought it was such an innovative idea and hoped to see it made a regular event!

Don’t forget to put 21st December at 3pm in your diary for the Richard House pantomime

From our families…. Family day 24th October

We had two special guests who delighted the children (and staff!) as well as the Giggle Doctor. Several families attended and enjoyed arts and crafts making finger puppets and mobiles led by Together!2012 volunteers and staff. Going on a Bear Hunt story was adapted to become a sensory story which also involved music and dance movement for everyone to join in with. Linda from the Red Cross gave a much welcomed head and neck massage to parents and carers. While film club members also worked on their latest pieces and filmed the day gathering footage from staff, children and families. The families said how much they enjoyed the day and the children were laughing and smiling throughout.

From our families….Sibling Science

Care Support organised a trip for siblings aged 5-17 to the Science Museum on Wednesday 25th October. Ten siblings attended the day, which was a well received, fun and busy day. Our thanks to Fundraising who obtained tickets for a special interactive exhibition inside the museum called ‘Wonderlab’ – it was packed with things to do and kept everyone engaged. The day offered siblings the opportunity to socialise with other children while exploring the wonders of the Science museum together and before leaving the museum the children got to choose a little present from the gift shop-the money was provided by Richard House. The children thoroughly enjoyed the trip and are already looking forward to the next event during February half term, which will be to Flip Out trampoline park!

In your community…….

This year we are once again asking our local community to support us by purchasing our ‘Wishing Stars’ at Christmas. These are our star shaped Christmas tree decorations that say ‘Thinking of someone special this Christmas.’ These stars are a little reminder of someone special and make a lovely addition to any Christmas tree.

They are great for churches, schools and local community groups, so if you are involved in any of these and can help us please let us know! fundraising@richardhouse.org.uk
