If someone close to you is diagnosed with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition or sadly dies, it can be a very difficult and lonely experience.
Even if you have many friends and a big family, it can sometimes feel as if no one understands what you are going through.
Our support groups offer an opportunity to meet with other people in similar circumstances and talk about your thoughts and feelings in a supportive, non-judgemental environment.
The current groups we run at Richard House for for pre and post bereavement are:
- Mums4mums (for mothers of children and young adults with life-limiting conditions)
- Men’s group (for fathers and carers of children and young adults with life-limiting conditions)
- Sibling groups (for siblings of children and young adults with life-limiting conditions)
- Film clubs (for children and young adults with life-limiting conditions and their siblings)
We encourage members to express their thoughts and feelings as well as listen to and support one another, and take part in social activities together. We also help them to build a supportive network outside of the hospice so that support is ongoing.
