Richard House Cup

July 5

Richard House Children’s Hospice and West Ham United Foundation would like to invite pupils from your school to take part in the ‘Richard House Cup’ this coming July.

The ‘Richard House Cup’ is in its inaugural year and we are inviting selected schools to take part in this exclusive football tournament which will take place at the West Ham United Foundation grounds.

Teams in two different age groups will face off in a league format with the top two teams at the end of the day playing off to lift the cup! Games will be short 7-a-side games played on 3G pitches. The two age groups are Year 7/8 and Year 9/10.

As well as showcasing the talent the schools in London have to offer, this tournament hopes to raise £15,000 for the work that is done at Richard House, supporting around 300 seriously ill children and their families with the vital services they need.

In order to raise this, all schools taking part in the tournament will need to hold a ‘sporty’ non-uniformed fundraising day at their school. Just ask pupils and staff to come in dressed as their favourite sportsperson and donate £2 to take part. Depending on how large your school is, these days can raise hundreds of pounds and are an easy way to get the pupils involved in fundraising. We request that this takes place before the end of the summer term and that the school raises £500. Each team will also need to pay a small registration fee of £50 per team that will help us cover the costs of the event.

If a non-uniform day won’t work for your school, you can also download our Schools Fundraising Pack for more ideas and information.

FAQ’s

How many players can our school bring?

Games will be 7-a-side so squads of up to 10 are allowed.

Is this tournament just for boys?

No! Schools are encouraged to bring their best players, so all pupils are welcome to take part.

Can parents come and watch?

Yes – due to regulations at the venue, all spectators wishing to come along should let your school know beforehand and we would ask that this information is passed on to us and West Ham as there will need to be a register of those expected on the day. We would also ask that all parents/guardians wishing to come along make a suggested donation of £2 to Richard House.

How long will the tournament last?

We would expect the tournament to last the whole school day and will be asking teams to arrive at the ground for 9.30am.There will be a short break a lunchtime for pupils to eat (please ask all pupils to bring a packed lunch).

Is there any help available for our fundraising?

Yes – the team at Richard House are always happy to give ideas and advice on any fundraising your school might need. We are also able to send resources and materials to support any events, as well as delivering assemblies about our work or conducting tours of our facilities.

If you have any other questions please do get in touch with the fundraising team on 0207 540 0228.
