Thank you for supporting Richard House*. New Data Protection Laws , ‘General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)’ are launching 25 May and we wanted to you to be comfortable with how we process and use your information, to reassure you that we have always taken measures to protect our supporters’ privacy.

What is GDPR?

The General Data Protection Regulation (known as GDPR) is a regulation by which the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union and the European Commission intend to strengthen and unify data protection for all individuals within the European Union (EU). It also addresses the export of personal data outside the EU.

GDPR aims primarily to give people back control over their personal data and to simplify the regulatory environment for international business and charities by unifying the regulation within the EU.

Why do you store my data?

Richard House stores supporter information to process and keep a record of donations. Where possible, and where we have permission, we use this information to claim things like Gift Aid, send out emails and letters with updates, and appeals. We also have a obligation to hold information for auditing.

Why do I need to opt in?

For every £4.00 Richard House raises, £3.00 comes from voluntary donations. Without your support we would be unable to operate and provide the respite and care to around 300 families.

From May 25 we will no longer be able to email supporters who have not opted in, Email is the most cost effective way to communicate with supporters. We would be really grateful if you could take one minute to update us on these preferences. You can do this by clicking this link.

By simply opting in to email communication you are helping us continue. Richard House is London’s first children’s hospice and you have supported us and been a valuable part of this incredible journey.

What will you send me?

We will send newsletters, event invites, and appeals which are tailored to each individual so that you receive the most relevant and up to date information and stories from Richard House, and how your money makes a real difference.

Will you share my data?

No! Richard House does not share data with third parties, nor will we sell your information.

I have another question, who can I contact?

Please do get in touch Fundraising@RIchardhouse.org.uk and we will be happy to answer any questions you have.
